    Rent reimbursement
My husband is self employed and has a house in NJ which is rented out. We moved to MA and rent an apartment. The client reimburses the rent for the apartment. The question is : How is the rent reimbursement to be treated for tax purposes?

Secondly, I have a house in MA that is currently rented out. The lease expires at the end of this month. Can I rent this house to my husband and claim rent reimbursement? What are the tax implications?

    Thanks!

    1. Check with the client: How are they going to treat this rent payment? May be they will treat it as payment to you.

No, you cannot rent the house to your husband and claim it as valid income, especially if you file a joint return.
