    National Identity Card / terroism
Do we think the introduction of the UK National ID Card will help to combat terroism?

The real terrorist will know where you are and what you are doing at all times. It doesn't matter though, we will all still be asleep when they come to call. Don't worry about a thing, you are being taken care of. Really, there is nothing to fear so you can get back to your video game and they will take care of it... really.
The force behind the Third Riecht and all other evil empires of the past is alive and well and riding a camel these days, not a Folks Wagon. Same game, different name. There are really only two camps. I know where my tent is pitched! Do you?

Why worry about id cards, when your national insurance number, drivers license, and bank details tell who,and where you are.Sleep easy. :D
No,id cards will not "foil" terrorism. You only have to watch British TV news,to be informed about the depths people will sink to,as in the case of Alexander Litvinenko.

Maybe in the future governments will implant a trackable nonremovable cerebral microchip in every human at birth in order to prevent people from breaking the law and then disapearing into the surrounding population.

You know, given the fact that we could be the only human beings (living things period) in the universe, it's a shame we can't HAPPILY share this planet without worrying about 'The Man' and its distrust for things that can be prevented (some of the time). It's creepy. I agree with you Starman, also, when you go to a fast food place, they want to fingerprint you, so that they provide a healthier menu for you to choose from. Weird.

In Malta we use ID cards, we can travel on them too. I think the purpose of an ID card is just as valid as a passport but less hassle if u lose it to obtain another one, unlike the process to obtaining another passport if lost, it costs money and its more hassles, anyway here that how it is.
