Can I adopt my boyfriend's child, if the biological mother is never around?
(My boyfriend is in Iraq, and we are getting married when he returns home.) I have been raising his son for the past 6 months since the child's mother disappeared. She is now in jail on two felony drug charges, amongst many other. What options do I have in adopting him, if any, and where do I begin with this process? What if she won't sign over her rights? Do I have any other options?

You begin by marrying your boyfriend, then continue on to adopting him. You'll need an attorney to help you with this as she is incarcerated and that could prove to be tricky if you are trying to do this on your own before a Judge.

Until he comes back to the US, you can't do much of anything now adoption wise.
