No dialtone incoming call then dialtone
    Hi all,

Over the last three months, my phone has been going dead for no reason. Then after I receive an incoming call, it starts to work. I have DSL on the same line and also a cordless panasonic with ans machine and caller id. When the line is back and I am on a call, it keeps getting disconnected
Also when on MSN chat, I keep getting disconnected and have to sign back on a lot

    Please help

    Thanks

    KISS

Loose connection or more probably a nest of some sort in a jack. Spiders come to mind. The higher voltage clears it.

If it's outside, usually rain will make it worse. It's then resistant to clear.

When it happens again. Confirn no dial tone and go outside at the nid and check with a phone in the test port. That isolates the inside and outside wiring.

Thank you for your response; the next time it happens I will test it at the nid to isolate the inside wiring
