2000 Pontiac Grand Am Turn Signal Issue
I have a 2000 Pontiac Grand AM. The turn signal "click" sound comes on intermittently, and seems to be coming from right underneath the CD player and flasher control on the dashboard. The turn signal lights and switch are not turned on and the sound continues. When the turn signal or flashers are turned on, the sound stops.

Any way I can get this sound to stop? What is the problem? Why won't this intermittent clicking sound stop when I don't have the turn signal or flashers engaged?

Any help I can get or recommendations would be great.

You may have a faulty Turn Signal/Hazard Relay, which is likely located inside the under-dash fuse/relay box. If that's not the cause, then I would suspect the Turn Signal Switch. Before doing anything, use a test light or multimeter to test all under-dash and under-hood fuses.

    1. Try and remove the Turn Signal/Hazard Relay from the under-dash fuse/relay box.
    2. Inspect the relay holder terminals to be sure they are all making good contact. Clean male terminals with No. 240 abrassive cloth. If the terminals are bent, loose, or corroded, repair them and recheck the system.
    3. There are likely various continuity and voltage checks that can be performed on the connector. Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with your vehicle. Basically, these tests would test each terminal (likely 3) and indicate poor ground, open in wire, blown fuse, faulty hazard warning switch, or faulty turn signal switch. Most likely, you will be left with the option of replacing the relay, if steps 1 and 2 didn't solve the problem, or replacing the turn signal switch.

Since I'm not familiar with your car, all of this is generic guidance on how many Turn Signal/Hazard Flasher Systems are configured. Hope this helps.
