    The Imperial Presidency
Remember the time not so long ago when the Dems and the compliant media would complain about President Bush's use of signing statements ,executive orders and recess appointments ?

Well that was then ;and since "Bush did it " (the new corollary to "it's Bush's fault) President Obama is planning extensive use of these executive tools to jump start his stalled agenda.

Funny thing is now the NY Slimes doesn't appear to have any issue with it.

    Of course, Tom.

It's about time His Majesty took up his Sceptre of executive orders. The fun part is going to be when he decides if the Rod is going to be the FBI or if he's going to try to use the BATF like Reno did.

He may not have much of a choice but to go the executive order route with the announcement that Evan Bayh won't seek re-election and the rumor that Barbara Mikulski may do the same. That and using reconciliation to jam through his health care takeover.

Wasn't it arrogance that cost a king and queen their heads?

How the mighty have fallen ! It wasn't that long ago when Bayh was on the short list of Veep candidates for both Obama and Evita.

Interestng that he would cite gridlock when up until last month they had a fool proof super-majority in the Senate. The only thing preventing them from passing all their legislation was their own rank and file... including Bayh by the way.

I wonder if the opening left at PhRMA with the resignation of former congressman Billy Tauzin has anything to do with Bayh's call.
    It's a family affair...

By the way... given all the voluntary retirements ,the Palin decision to leave her position as Governor of Alaska was ahead of the curve.

I post in a lot of subjects especially helping people with technology. In your case it's clsoe to exclusively whining about Obama, Obama, Obama. People in glasss houses...

Palin is a caricature of herself. She represents the dumbing down of america. I can see why you defend her though.

Should we read anything into the lower case?

Palin is a great deal more representative of the Americans I have met than some Chicago thug with a Harvard degree and almost zero experience in government.

If you all remember, I kept worrying about not Barack Hussein Obama but Barack Capone Obama.

I really am disappointed in being proved correct.

Moving past Palin, the filing deadline in Indiana is today, and I believe the candidate needs 500 signatures to get on the ballot. Otherwise they'll have to go the caucus route, which seeing who the only Dem that seems to be in position to get on the ballot is, they most likely will do.

Tamyra D'Ippolito, a newcomer seeking to shake up the sexist "old boys club in Indiana," claims to have the signatures.

The reaction to her candidacy? “This would be a complete and unmitigated disaster,” said a leading Democrat in the state. “We’d be up sh—’s creek.”

She also says the White House is conspiring against her.

    This could be fun.

Perhaps Spits can fill in the details about Murtha's district.

Word is that the Dems will run Murtha's wife to be the caretaker of the seat until they get census results in . They think they will lose a district after the census count and are targeting this Republican leaning district for elimination.

This of course is a big assumption because fast Eddie Rendell would have to get reelected Governor 1st and they would have to retain control of the Legislature... and neither are a given .
