Is there a good website that tells me what the best day/time to view the galactic center of the milky way? I have done a lot of searching and found nothing so far.

The galactic center lies in the direction of the constellation Sagittarius, and is best viewed in late summer (August in particular). You can't actually see the galactic center, as it is obscured from us by dust. More info at these sites:

Well this is the first time that I've heard that it lies in the direction of the Sagittarius constellation plus your comment about August explains why I saw it in October one late night driving in western Kansas. I thank you for your quick reply.

You can actually see the Milky way any time of the year, depending on the time of night.
