    Velocity in 2 Parts
Last two problems on my homework. Can't quite figure out the setup.

A speeder passes a parked police car at a
Constant speed of 30.7 m/s. At that instant,
The police car starts from rest with a uniform
    Acceleration of 2.03 m/s2.
How much time passes before the speeder
Is overtaken by the police car?
    Answer in units of s.

How far does the speeder travel before being
    Overtaken by the police car?
    Answer in units of m.

I'll get you started. You need to determine the equations of motion for the two cars, in terms of time from the moment they pass each other. This gives you two simulataneous equations for distance traveled in meters versus time in seconds. Then solve these two equations for both distance and time.

Post back with the answer and we'll check it for you.
