I have been taking Yasmin (the oral contraceptive) for about 2 years now and haven't missed a pill in at least a year but this past weekend (sat) I was supposed to start a new pack and I totally forgot about it until Monday so I didn't get started on my BC until Monday night and then my boyfriend and I had intercourse three times Tuesday night (I don't let him ejaculate inside of me, and I did take the pill that night afterwards on time) but he pulled out for every time we had intercourse. What are my chances or likelihood of being pregnant?

Usually if you miss a pill for 1 day, if I'm not mistaken you are not safe for the week, then after that week you are back to the normal routine. For the pill to be effective its imperant to take it consequativly.

The chances of you being pregnant are slim, but it is always possible if you are having sex, birth control or not. I have 2 grown sons and I took my pill religiously.

Typically with the pill, if you miss, you should consider yourself not protected for a month. Every pill is different as every woman's body is different, a month is just a good rule of thumb.

Not only do you have to take your pill daily, but you must remember to take it at the same time every day.

Thanks for your time everyone but I spoke to a friend of my moms (who's a nurse), she told me that all I need to do is double up on pills today and tomorrow and take them the same days that I had been before missing them, that all an EC usually is is an extra dosage of BC. I know that a month is longer than you would have to wait to not use a back up method, a week is maximum since BC only takes one week to start working or it works immediately even if it's your first time ever using it.

True, it is different for every woman's body and which prescription she's taking and it could take up to a year or more for it to get out of my system or just one day, but the nurse that I spoke to told me that I should be just fine if take the two "missed" pills today and tomorrow and to use a back up method for one week.

Good luck. I hope you don't get sick doing this. Some pills will cause nausea and vomiting due to the increased level of hormones and some women's bodies are not used to that high of a dosage.

Guess maybe you should have gone to your Mom's friend first huh?
