Why would my heat pump run constantly? Compressor won't kick on
Why does my heat pump fan run and the compressor won't kick on? Unit inside, downstairs and thermostat seem to be operating properly. Is there anything I can do myself to troubleshoot the problem??

    Heat pump fan runs
Why would my heat pump's fan run constantly and the compressor not kick on? ---Thermostat and unit downstairs seem to be operating fine. Is there anything I can do myself to troubleshoot the problem?

How do you know the compressor outside is not running? Did you test it or use a Amprobe to see if it is drawing power?

Haha!---No, unfortunately, I'm not that versed in these types of repairs----Can't you tell just by listening---It usually makes a loud "baaarrrrrooooom" when it first kicks on

Yes they do make a different sound when the compressor is running but if you have no skills in this industry it will be a tuff repair.

One thing you can do is kill the power to the outside unit then look for a loose or burnt wire going to the compressor or contactor. If found repair and put back in service. Good luck.
