When switching the PC on the windows won't pick up and I have a blank screen
The computer should perform a power-on self-test (POST) when turned on. Normally a logo screen or BIOS banner is shown during this stage. When finished, a beep may be heard and then the computer looks for a boot device and an operating system (Windows) to load. If the screen remains blank with no beeps or drive activity, an issue with a device such as a drive or an add-in card may be preventing POST. Removing and reinstalling memory modules also sometimes does the trick. Power supply failure is another common issue. If the computer seems to be going through its paces with a beep and drive activity, but there is simply no video, that may be a video adapter or monitor issue.
