    3x+4y=-6 and 5x+3y=1

    3x+4y=-6
    5x+3y=1

    15x+20y = -30
    15x+9y = 3

    -15x-20y =30
    15x+9y = 3

    eliminate the xs.
    -11y = 33
    so y = - 3

    5x+3y=1
    5x-9 =1
    5x = 1+9
    5x = 10
    x = 2
