    bearing loads on steel posts
I am building a house with a large great room. In the center of the room is a steel ridge beam. W16 X 40 lbs per foot that spans 32 feet. I will be installing a tile roof @ 7.5 pounds per sq. ft. I was planning on using a 3 1/2" OD steel post .250 inch thick 12 ft high.
Will that be strong enough? The posts will be inside the wall. I am framing with 14 gage steel studs and there will be studs on both sides. I will use a steel strap conecting the posts to 4 studs on both sides of the steel post.
