What is the best way to teach my son how to talk?
Hi there my son is a year in a half and very bright but I have a concern. Me and my familey were living with another couple that had a little girl who was about 2 years older than my son and does not talk this girl had speech theripist and everything all the little girl does is sighn language well when it came to the time were I thought my son was soposed to be talking and didn't I took him to our docter. She said that the little girl slowed his learning down!now my son is trying to do sighn language!! He will be two in may and onley says a few words like cracker, by by, dada, momma, thank you, and my name, and a few little jibber jabbers other than that its all grunts and wines he doesn't even say cup yet! What should I do?

Some children talk later than others. I wouldn't worry about it. Just keep talking to him all the time while you are doing things. One of my boys barely spoke until he was four and the other spoke really early. Have him go to playgroups where he is around other kids that are talking. As time goes on, within the next few years, you can always have him evaluated by a speech therapist too.
