    220 3 wire to 2 wire device
The outlet I need to supply has 2 wire plus ground. The feed is 3 wire plus ground. What gets spliced and how?

A 3 wire plus ground feeder will usually be black and red provides 240 volts, the white is neutral, giving 120 volts across either black or red to white or to ground.

240 Volts would be the black and red, and cap the neutral.

Can you provide more detail as to your situation and what your trying to do?

This outlet will provide power to a ballast for lighting. Are you saying to just put a wire nut and tape on the white wire at the outlet end?
