I have a family member who is faced with 6 armed robberies with a pipe and a possible carjacking due to heavy drug dependency. They are now under suicide watch in a state hospital, what are there options.

I am not a lawyer but common sense dictates that this person is in serious trouble and will likely not walk away without some jail time.
My only suggestion is to get a good lawyer.

Armed robbery is a crime not taken lightly and six separate acts of armed robbery will get them a lot of time in prison to think about what they did. Just being in a mental hospital is only a delaying tactic as they will be given testing to prove their competence to stand trial. Drug dependence is not an excuse to commit armed robbery.
