What to expect at your first Gastro Exam
Can anyone out there tell me if a breast exam, more like a squeeze and shake is part of a Gastro Exam? I went to the Gastro Dr. when I was so sick and having stomach issues for several months. I thought to be proactive and informed my GP that I'll be doing so. When I entered the exam room one of the assistants asked me to remove clothing from the waist up. I was so sick and on the clock, during my lunch, that I just didn't want to. The young lady convinced me that the Dr. would listen to my heart and lungs and that this was necessary. I gave in and the Dr. told me to lay down on the table, I did, he then placed his hand over my breast squeezed then shook and asked if I feel any pain. I felt violated... what was that! I never had such a breast exam and if a 3 second exam can give startling evidence of underlying health issues then more doctors should study this type of diagnosis.

I've never had this done and I've never seen or heard of a doctor doing this to anyone, Trullie. Is this GI doctor part of a group who practice together? Can you call his office and complain to his office manager? If he works alone, I would confront him face to face, then I'd ask for my medical records and never see him again. That's just what I'd do. I'm supposed to see a GI doctor every 3 months, and have for years. I go to 2 different "groups" and I think I've been examined by every GI doctor in my area. None of them have ever examined my breasts.

Was anyone in the room other than you and the Physician?
