Code Po442 on 2002 chevy avalanche

It could be a loose or defective gas cap, among other things. Be sure to also check all vacuum lines. Afterwards, use a code reader to clear the code.

Have you ever replaced the sealing O-ring on the gas cap?
Do that: very inexpensive... Clear the code and drive off.
That check engine light will likely stay gone for a very long time.
