You not falling pregnant will not be considered a problem that requires further thought until you have been trying for at least 12 months. This depends on how old you are, if you are in a hurry to conceive assisted fertility techniques could be considered. There may also be a delay in you regaining fertility after ceasing contraception, depending on which method you used.

If you are trying to conceive there is no doubt that you should supplement your diet with folate. This has been proven to reduce the incidence of spina bifida in children and is best started before conception. It may also be a good idea to take an iron supplement to prevent anaemia but often if you have a good balanced diet and are not vegan may not be necessary. Good diet goes for the prospective father too.

The best time to try to conceive is during ovulation. This occurs 14 days before the first day of you last period. If you have a regular 28 day cycle then it is also 14 days after your last period. If you have an irregular cycle it is more difficult to tell when you are ovulating. While you are ovulating, go for it. Im not aware of any particular method being better for conceiving but lying on your back afterwards can help the semen to enter the cervix and increase your chances.

If you have a specific menstrual or gynaecological history or another medical condition, or if you are on regular medication you should consult your doctor.

Go to doctor. Talk to doctor. Sperm donors, and seragent mothers. Or just spend the rest of your life having sex until, hey! Your pregnant!
