It's been working all right till this morning. I woke up and the room temperature was around 60 :( . All I know about it is that it is a goodman brand furnace. It doesn't have a pilot, but an automatic ignitor. We followed the instruction to reset it -- shut down the electricity, shut down the gas, wait for 5 min, turn on gas, turn on electricity, but nothing happened. The fire is not starting. But when I turned the switch on, I did hear the fan blowing air somewhere but there is nothing coming out of the vent.
Called the repair company but the earlist time is next Monday. Please help or I will spend the entire thanksgiving in cold :( :( :( :(

Is the little fan running that is close to the top of the furnace, you may notice it because it is connected just below the vent pipe. When you turn on the thermostat that is the first thing that should happen is that fan starts to run. If you are watching the furnace at this time the next thing you will see is a hot surface igniter start to glow a real bright color and then if things are working right the next thing is you should hear a click and the burners should come on, after about three minutes the main blower should come on. That is all that I can tell you until you can tell me what is happening and haw far in the cycle does it go before nothing else happens.

Thanks very much! When the thermostat's turned on, there was a click, but the fire was not started. My husband said he didn't see any bright glow but he smelled a little gas. He thought the ingnitor failed. Anything we can do? Thanks again!

Yes and no... if and it sounds like the problem... the ignitor is cracked... you're going to need a new one. I don't know where your from , but where I'm from, they don't sell ignitors ove rthe counter.. you may be able to but one from a local service company?

I have a similar problem. My boyfriend unplugged the heater to use the outlet temporarily and it hasn't worked since he plugged it back in. We followed the same instructions to light the pilot and we never hear a click or see a red glow. Any advice?

At the plug where your furnace is plugged in you need to test it to make sure that you have voltage there. If you do not have a volt meter then use a electric drill or a hair dryer to see if they will run.

Does the cord that goes to the furnace have two or three prongs? The furnace is probably polarity sensative and has to be plugged in with the hot to one side tha the negative to the other. So unplug the cord turn it 180 degrees and plug it back in, if it starts to run or make a click then you know what the problem is, and it needs to be corrected.

To correct this, if it is the problem, buy a three prong cord. Connect the white wire from the furnace to the cord wire that has bibs runni8ng up and down the wire cover. Connect the Black to the smooth wire and then connect the green wire to the furnace housing.

Now to make you more confused, it is possible tha the plug itself has been wired wrong. To correct this you will have to take the plug out of the wall. One either side of the plug are two screws, one side they are a darker color than on the other side. Connect the black wire to the dark wire the white wire to the light screw.

We know we have power. And its 3 prong. It was working fine until it was unplugged. When we turn it on the motor runs but it does not ignite and the heat never comes on

Your furnace may be one that if the thermostat is calling for heat when you plug it in the fan motor will run for about two or three minutes before it will go into the heat mode. So Just let it run one time and see if it resets.

One other thing, if your transformer is not good the blower will come on and run forever, I am not saying this is the problem, just some information.

I have a similar problem with my RUDD RKKA 036 (3 ton roof top unit). Heat, no heat, heat, no heat at all now. The blower works when you turn up the thermostat but no more hot air. I have opened the panel and the "pre-blower" fan doesn't come on and the gas doesn't kick on but the main blower does.
