    Outside faucet
I have a outside faucet that I use to water my lawn. Now that it is getting colder out I have noticed that it is leaking all the time. It froze one time last week. What do I need to do to stop the leak??

Is it leaking out of the outlet or maybe where the spicket attaches to the water line, maybe you can't see exactly where it's leaking ? If out of the usual outlet where water normally comes out, then maybe when you close it each time to cut off the water, you have tightened it so tight that the faucet itself is simply worn out. I only tighten my faucets whether inside or out just enough to stop the water flow completely, never so tight that next time one has to tighten it even more, and so on, to stop the water flow out. If it's leaking where the faucet connects to the line you may have to take the faucet off, reconnect it and while doing that just install a new faucet.

If you have a basement we uusually install a "stop and waste" valve just inside the basement where the supply exits the wall. Shut the watter off an d drain the hosebib. Then leave the hose bib open until next spring. Good luck and enjoy thanksgiving. Tom
