I need a police report and I can't get it unless I hire a lawyer and have him file a motion of discovery. Because I can't afford to hire a lawyer I would like to know how to file a motion of discovery and do it myself...

Have you looked in the Criminal Court file for this police report? It may possibly already be in the court file. All you need to do is ask to view the file at the Clerk's office and if this police report is in the file you can have it copied for probably 25 cents a page. Also, you could go to the police station and request a copy of this police report as well.
