    Can IRA be garished in Texas
    Resident of Texas retired since 2 years. Can credit card garnish my IRA.

    If you have declared bankruptcy, then your IRA is protected by federal law up to $1M (or more, if it's a rollover IRA from a qualified retirement plan).

    If you have not declared bankruptcy then state law applies. Here's a site that suggests that in TX IRA accounts are protected: Bankruptcy Exemptions However, I suspect that any distributions you take from your IRA would be fair game for creditors.
