I am a PhD student on F-1 visa. I have been filing taxes as a resident alien using the form 1040. My wife has been living with me as a F-2 (dependent) since March 2009. Is there any tax benefit I can get to show her as a dependent and how?

If you are eligible to file resident return, you can only file as Married Filing Jointly or Married Filing Separately.
File joint return as residents. Both must report worldwide income on the tax return.
