Shower handle leakes from the knob
    Hello everybody:

The house is about 15 years old. This shower has been giving me problems with the hot water first and now is leaking from the middle handle that controls the shower and the tub. My main concern is that I cannot get to the assembly to change the parts because the shower is a whole piece and I would have to ripe the whole thing off the bathroom. If anybody has some ideas about what I am trying to say, could you please replay this ad.

Sounds like you have a three handle shower valve faucet. To repair this faucet you take off the handle by unscrewing a screw in the middle of the handle. There may be a little button that you have to remove to get to the screw. Then you remove the escutcheon, which is the chrome ring that fits against the wall. You then should see to hex shaped nuts, the smaller one is for tightening the packing gland, so by using a wrench that fits the small nut turn it about a quarter of a turn then use the handle to turn the water one and see if the water still leaks out around the stem. If it does tighten it a little more. If this does not stop the leak then you need to add some packing, I use teflon tape rolled into a string, wrap it around the stem and then slip the nut back in place and tighten it up against the teflon. This should stop the water from coming out around the handle.
