I'm installing a glass vessel sink on a granite countertop. I was told to use a decorative ring between the two. This decorative ring/flange is chrome on the bottom with a rubber ring on the top. Even though I have completely tightened the drain my sink still can move around. The granite and the chrome flange are both so smooth they allow the sink to move/spin. Can I glue the flange to the granite? Any other ideas? Think I should scrap the flange and just install the glass directly on the granite? I was told that was not a good idea but was given no reason.

For anyone who follows with a similar problem, I cut a custom gasket to fit under the ring. It's nice and tight now since the gasket won't let the sink spin.

Glue the vessel sink ring to the counter with clear silicon and let it dry overnite. That will keep the ring from spinning and take one factor out of the vessel sink-spin equation.
If the pop-up drain came with silicon gasket rings, I found that silicon caulk didn't really dry if put on top of the gasket (not much air in there), and it just 'lubed' them like teflon instead so the glass vessel sink would spin and shift really easily.. . SO Make sure the gaskets and sink are clean and dry, to maximize the friction.
