What causes liver infections beside poison consumed ?

Are they getting flea shots? They have been known to caus liver problems. Also are they getting plenty of fresh water?

My aunt's dog has liver problems from eating the kitty poop out of the litter box. Why do you ask? Is there something wrong with your dog.
