First its not a good idea to piggyback your question on someone else's. This can lead to confusion. You should start a new thread. So I've moved your question to its own thread.

Depends on where you live. You WILL need an attorney, so start shopping around for one.

An agreement is reached between the bio parents and the adoptive parents,

They hire an attorney, who will write up the paper work for the bio mother and father to sign over their rights to allow the adoption, and a petition for adoption. This will be filed with the courts.

The laws vary by state within the US as to the rules of adoption, rights of bio parents to change mind and other issues.

You need a lawyer fast and make sure all your bases are covered. Are you paying for the medical expenses of the mother ?

no... she has medicare, they came to us less than a month ago, we affidavits, fingerprints, all certified copies of marriage and birthcert, we also have consent forms, just didn't know how to get the petition filed, we know we need a homestudy, but yes its all happening to fast. Is this private adoption expensive? Since we know them?

Lol.. your reply in the post said Feb 2010. I thought the child was yet to be born.

Expensive is a relative term. If everyone agrees and no snags then it shouldn't cost a lot I would imagine. If things get complicated then your in deep. Cost is also controlled by your local jurisdiction.
