    92 Honda Accord Brakes
I Have A 1992 Honda Accord And This Morning When I Was Driving To Work The Brake Pedal Was Really Sluggish And I Had To Push It All The Way To The Floor To Stop. When I Got To Work I Noticed That The Driver Side Brake Resovior Was Dry But Not The Passenger Side What Could My Problem Be? Please Help Me Before I Have To Take It To A Shop And Get Ripped Off.

The first thing you need to do is refill the master cylinder reservoir with brake fluid, even before you drive the car again. Fill to the Max Line on the reservoir with an approved brake fluid. Make sure it's safe before driving again; otherwise, have the vehicle towed.

To lose all of the fluid in the master cylinder reservoir, you obviously have a leak somewhere. Look for a fluid leak around the master cylinder first. Next, check the disc calipers and wheel cylinders. These kind of situations generally develop from not changing the brake fluid every 2 years, as Honda recommends. When you regularly change the brake fluid, you remove sludge and debris that damage the seals, replenish the fluid's lubricity and corrosion inhibitors, and get rid of moisture and air in the system. Regular preventive maintenance greatly extends the useable life of brake components, especially on ABS systems.

You really need to remove each wheel and check the calipers and wheel cylinders over for any sign of fluid leaking. Most likely, this is not a job where you can just tighten something up. It's a situation where the soft rubber components inside the disc calipers and wheel cylinders have worn and are now leaking. Once the leaking caliper or other part is located and replaced, the whole brake system needs to be bled. This is not a little job, in all likelihood.
