Co-owner left Florida. Can she be taken off the deed?
My son bought a house with his girlfriend. His name only is on the mortgage, but both their names are on the deed. They broke up, and she left the state. She does not contribute to the payments. Can she be removed from the deed by force?

How did she get on the deed in the first place and how is it titled?

Single, Married, And/Or, All of that matters.

Did she put money in on the down, was she helping to make the payments before.

Has he offered to buy her out, or asked her to sign house over.

Not married, and they bought the house together. Her name is on the title, but not the mortgage. She helped pay for it for a few years. I know he could ask her to give up her share, but what if she will not? He owes money on a house that half belongs to her. Or does it?

If her name is on the title then it would take a court order to have it removed unless there is an agreement instead. The only way to force her would be to sue.
