Can I use #6 AWG instead of #8 on 40 amp
I'm making a is a 40 foot run to a cooktop. It needs amps. #8 AWG is recommended but I don't have it on hand and want to use #6 instead. Sound OK?

Larger is OK. Smaller is usually not.
    #6 is fine for 40A.

Thanks Stanfortyman. I couldn't think of a reason not to, but I wanted to check.
