    Water running prior to meter
In my basement in Buffalo, NY it sounds like water is rushing through the pipe into my house. Nothing in the house is on, I even turned off the feed prior to the meter and the running sound continues. I dug through the snow out front and can't find any signs of water or icing from a leak. Is there anything else I should check prior to spending my tax refund an an expensive dig in my front yard?

City water I assume. Call the water department, they have a leak detector

If you have shut the water off at the meter stop and the little pointer isn't moving then it's the citys responsibility to locate and repair the leak. Have you called the water department? Good luck, Tom
