I'm not exactly sure of your question. First or last name?
We in America pick a name we like to name our children. It has little to do about being named "after dad or mom." We just pick a name we like.
Its common in ireland to name a son after its father or grandfather, and likewise with a daughter (after mother or grandmother),however lots of people might relagate the name to a second name.
Two of my daughters have second names taken from each grandmother.
In saying that, times change and some names are regarded as old fashioned and not used at all.
Example,I would hardly ever hear a child being named mary or bridget, where once they were very common names.
I means last name
Mostly (and I'm speaking purely from my own observations) if the couple are married the fathers last name, but is not uncommon for a married couple to give one child its father last name and another the mother last name.
Lots of women keep there maiden names now when they marry.
Hi, Talal.
How is the naming normally done where you are, please?
My last name is centuries old and has had many variations, as far as the spellings. I don't think that there has been any variance though, for it being used for the surname.
Just out of interest though, my middle name was the name of one of my grandfathers and my first name was picked by my brother.
Thanks!
redhed35,Can you explain more please ?
Because in a lot of movies people use their last names
And if someone became your friend he can call you with your
First name?
And it is OK to give child (boy) women last name?
So, the given names could then become very long then. Correct?Quote:

Yes it will be very long but usually we used the first name,
The father name and the tribe name.
Can you please explain how American and Europe's names their Children?
If the baby name is A, the father first name is E and the last name is D, and mother first name is S and the last name Z. what the baby name will be ?
Please give me all the chances of the baby name.
Thank
In most cases here and in the U.K. the child's last name is the same as the fathers last name. The first and middle name are usually "up for grabs" as far as what they might be.
However, in some religious sects, other names might be necessary to be used because of certain religious beliefs.
For instance, the famous Austrian composer, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, actually had a number of names given to him. It made his name like the following.
Johann Chrysostom Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
I think that there were even other names added on to that, mostly for religious reasons. Some might have also been added for political reasons.
Thanks.
So, there is no rules for names in America?
Because I read that Brad Pitt daughter is Zahara Jolie Pitt, it is have the father name and the mother name.
And my last question it is OK to name the baby boy by women
Last name?
In America it's okay to do whatever you want.
You can name your kid Booger Lee Jones if you want... It doesn't matter.
I would say traditionally, if the couple is married, the child would have either his fathers' last name, or it would be hyphenated.
