Hi,
I am on H1-B status and have been a resident alien for tax purposes for the past two years. My wife changed her visa status from H4 to F1 in 2009.
Can we file taxes jointly, treating my wife as a resident alien for tax purposes?
Thanks

Yes, you will file joint return as residents.
Do I need to file any extra forms, except for 1040A?
She has to sign a statement that she CHOOSES to be treated as a resident for all of 2009, and that signed statement MUST be attached to the tax return.
This means the return CANNOT be filed electronically; it must be mailed.
