How can I remove a Brass/Copper fitting on a cast iron drain pipe
After removing a copper drain pipe there is a fitting on the cast iron drain pipe where the copper pipe was sweated to. I can see threads and I heated it with a torch but it is very stubborn and does not want to move. How can I remove this more heat? Or should I look for a copper connector with threads which I can connect my PVC to or is there some sort of quick connect which I can use with the 2" PVC I now plan to use?

    Hi Jtrost...

You will need to rent or purchase a large WRENCH and then you should be able to remove the fitting. If needed, you can add a small length of pipe onto the wrench to increase the mechanical lever arm and that should help you to remove the fitting.

If that is too difficult then you could go to a local plumbing supply store and order a copper x pvc shielded transition clamp... see image. These work very well in most circumstances. Shielded clamps can also be called mission or proflex type clamps... just be sure they have the solid SS band as shown below.

    Back to you...
