What would cause a SAMSUNG DLP t.v. to make a loud pop/flash then turn itself off?
I have a SAMSUNG 56" DLP, model# HLF56A650C1F. Last night there was a noticeable pop and flash out the back of the television as if someone had taken a picture. The t.v. then turned itself off... I assumed my lamp had just went out, but it turned itself back on a few seconds later and all seemed to be fine... There was no smell or evidence of fried electrical components from what I could tell from the lamp access panel. The t.v. seems to be fine now. It is surge protected by a Monster cable home theater power bar. Any ideas? Thank you for your time!

A cold solder joint at one of the internal connections can caus that problem. If its on a relay then it can start happening again. Has it been opened and inspected for grey marks or blackening ?

Well, for some reason I can't reply so... All that I did was remove the lamp access panel on the side. I did not notice any sign of arcing, etc... I called SAMSUNG and they informed me of a small blue switch behind the lamp access panel that needs to remain in the up position as it could cause the turning off and on problem. That's all they would tell me seeing how my television is 5 months out of warranty. I researched it and the switch is only to inform the t.v. if the lamp cover is installed or not. As far as taking the entire back panel and inspecting all the components; I have not. Ill just have someone come out and service it and give it a once over. Thanks for the reply!
