    J.D. Salinger Dies
J.D. Salinger has died of natural causes at his home in Cornish, New Hampshire at the age of 91. His 1951 book "Catcher In The Rye" became a sensation and has been enjoyed by generations of readers. It was one of the most banned books of all time. I was born over 25 years after it was published but I never found it dated. He became very reclusive after the book became popular.

What really knocks me out is a book, when you're all done reading it, you wished the author that wrote it was a terrific friend of yours and you could call him up on the phone whenever you felt like it.
[J.D. Salinger 'Catcher In The Rye']

The only other work of his I read besides Catcher was 'Franny and Zooey '.For me ,both books being required reading took some of the thrill from them even though I liked both .I will have to reintroduce myself to both and see if time brings greater appreciation .

When he left the public world he claimed he would still write ;but for himself I know he did not like the spotlight; but by becoming a recluse the denied us of more... 40 productive years... maybe he kept manuscripts of the stuff he wrote "for himself "
