Would make the check engine light keep coming on every 2 or 3 weeks?

Since the CEL has come on, a code is stored the ECM's memory. Get a code reader and attach it to the data link connecter, located under the dash.

I could say, 'A completed circuit every 2 or 3 weeks."

At that interval, it could be several things.
Do as TxGM has recommended and get the history codes.
Let us know what is found, but I wouldn't be surprised to see possibly an Evap code but more likely an EGR code.
