Water leaks through the faucet hole when it is splashed onto the counter. Is there anyway to stop this?

Are you saying the fuacet itself doenst leak, but when water is splashed up on counter top it leaks down through the holes the fuacet is mounted through? One way to fix this is to remove the fuacet completely, dry the area and fuacet, then use plumbers putty between the fuacet base and counter top. This is the way plumbers used to do it, and still do with certain faucets. Most new faucets have a rubber seal on the bottom of the faucet, so plumbers putty is not needed. But if I'm reading this correctly, this will be your best option. You could also use silicone to seal between the fuacet and counter, but its not a suggestion most plumbers will give, at least not this plumber.

There should have been a plastic gasket that fits the faucet base installed that's supposed to prevent leakage. However if you don't have one you can always pull the faucet and ( if this isn't a marble top) run a ring of putty around the base and reinstall. I you have a marble top use silicon Caulk. There is a plastic gasket installed between the faucet and the granite top. There is also putty in the hole from underneath the sink.
My best bet is to take of and reinstall. Is there anything I can to to help make it a successful installation

Okay, now we are getting somewere. But one more question first. Are you sure its not the fuacet itself that is leaking internally? Is this a one hole faucet. Does it have a pull out spray and spout in one. Can you post a pic of your faucet, or give more info on faucet as afaroo asked for. If you have the rubber seal between faucet base and granite top, you may be able to just tighten up the anchoring nut under the counter top. But, I've seen plenty of pull out spout/sprays that are leaking from the flexible hose connected to the spout.

It is a bathroom faucet Price Pfister Marielle 46mseries mounted without deckplate in 3 separate holes. It is not leaking from faucet. It only leaks when you splash water on to it or if there is standing water. Should I put silicone on the plastic gasket or stick with the putty.

Remove the faucet clean the base and clean the top of the counter top, inspect the gasket for any damage if it is damaged replace it use some putty and install, good luck.

I say putty, but lets wait to see what Tom has to say about granite top vs marble top.

I agree the oil in the putty will peratrate out into the marble or granite and will discolor it in time.
