How do I rewire and install a new 5 wire ceiling fan switch
I am trying to install a replacement ceiling fan switch that has 5 wires in it (L Black, 1 Purple, 2 gray, 3 black and a brown wire that I do not know where it goes on the switch). The yellows, reds and blues are all still connected to each other. I think purple to purple is okay. I think gray to gray is okay. I think black to black is okay but not sure which of the blacks should be connected to fixture, L or 3?
I also have an extra purple with silver wire coming out of fixture, and an extra brown wire with copper wire, coming out of the fixture.
What do I connect the blacks too and what are/is connected to the extra brown and extra purple wires connect to?
