I need to reduce the frequency of a 20 KW generator from 160 Hz to 60. How I did that ? What converter I need to do that.
Thanks

I do not mean to disagree with you, but are you sure the genset is 160 Hz?
I never heard of 160 Hz, but what do I know.
Have heard, no, correction, felt, 400 Hz power
Can you provide the make and model number of the unit, and/or a datasheet?
The manufacturer gave me this information ,he calculate that because the generator have 12 pair of poles and the velocity is 800 RPM so the formula is F=poles*RPS F=12*13.333=160Hz
Thank
Great, but not what I asked for.
Frequency is set by the RPM of the driven generator as you found out.
The only real way to change frequency is to change the RPM or one converts to DC and then use Inverter technology to get whatever frequency you need.
This, as far as I know is designed and not available off the shelf.
At 2000 RPM, you would have a 400 Hz generator. 2000 RPM is a respectable RPM for many engines. 800 RPM isn't.
Is it possible that you have a 400 Hz generator and it's not running in closed loop?
