I am 23 years old, I'm getting married in 18 days.
My doctor told me to take Ovral-l, starting from the first day of my period. But my periods ended 2 days back. I can't wait till my next period, neither can I take the risk of not taking the pill. Should I start taking the pill from today onwards? Will I be fully protected? Are there any other alternatives?
And yes, my husband doesn't want to use condoms, neither am I looking forward to using diaphragms.

No, you will not be "fully" protected, you will need to be on the pill for a full 30 days before it is most effective, and that includes never missing any pills. So even if you start now, in 18 days you will not be protected.

Also you do know that the pill is not 100 percent effective even after you are on it for 30 days and take it every day, plus if you miss any days, it becomes less effective.

Husband can decide to use condoms or take large chance of being called daddy soon

    All right,
But then again, according to this, My next menstrual cycle would come on 15th of February, So even if I've started taking the pill from 22nd of January and have sex on 9th of February, I would be protected against getting pregnant as per the norms of family planning?

So even if the pill doesn't guarantees itself for next 30 days, if not started on the first day of periods.Would I still be protected?
