How do I get my divorce decree if I filed papers myself?
My ex and I filed divorce papers ourselves with the help of a paralegal. Yesterday was six month since we filed. Do I receive a final divorce decree in the mail? I also wanted to go back to my maiden name. Is the divorce decree the only thing I need to go back to my maiden name?

Please pay more attention to posting guidelines. There is a Read First sticky in the Divorce forum (where this was moved from) that directs questions of a legal nature to this forum.

Have you asked the court clerk about when you will get the final decree?

You should be able to start using your maiden name now, except in places where you need your legal name.

Have you stood before a judge ? If you haven't done that then your most likely still married. Id never heard of a divorce without a single hearing or trial. In most states there is some sort of confirmation hearing to show this is what is wanted and that its not done under duress also to show you are who you say you are. Also did you file for a name change as part of the divorce ?
