I have what looks to be (feel) a broken switch on a Braun 4185 hand blender. Can this be fixed or just have to throw it away?

You would probably be better off buying a new up dated hand blender. Get a quote on seeing how much to fix and go from there.

Live in a small town and not sure if they are any stores or persons I know that offer that service.
Any suggestions on how to fix out there?

We can't be a repair service, mcme. Go on line and find someone you can send it to, to get an appraisal. You would have to pay for postal back and forth. Really ? Just go out and buy a new one, and put that one in the garbage. I am a penny pincher, but would not be bothered with a little appliance like that didn't work any more. It wouldn't be worth my time to find someone to fix it, pay for postage back and forth, and finally hear they can't fix it.
