Is that the motor with the 3 coil packs? If so be aware that those coils fire 2 cylinders at the same time. Firing order should be marked on engine or near radiator. 1-5-3-6-2-4 ?

    No,mine has only 1 coil pack.I've been
Reading that the firing order for it is
1-6-5-4-3-2.if that is correct&that if when standing on passengerside&
Facing motor, the left or rear bank starting with closest plug,is 2-4-6 &the right or front bank is 1-3-5, then what I really need to know is
Where they go on the coil.they are
    Not numbered.thanx,Don

    Firing order is 123456.

    1 and 4 share a coil
    2 and 5 share a coil
    3 and 6 share a coil

I'm thinking the "odd" cylinders are towards the firewall, the "even" cylinders are towards the radiator. Start counting from the passenger side.

    (firewall)
    135
    246
    (radiator)

You may need to turn over with distributor cap removed to determine rotation direction.

There is no distrubutor cap on this model. There is a coil pack with 3 coils and 6 towers.

    Ahhh,

If you have the money and like this car, I would get the Service manual for about $20. They save a lot of time and Money.
The Library may also have your manual if you ever need.

If it's the Older pre-type I cast iron 3.8L V6 like the one I have in my 1988 Cutlass Ciera, then it has the 165432 firing order. Looking from the passengers side, the rear bank is even with 2 4 6 and the front bank is odd at 1 3 5

The coils are three separate ones. Standing in front of the car looking at the firewall, the left coil fires 6 & 3 the middle coil fires 2 & 5 the drivers side coil fires 1 & 4
Just follow the wires. If they are the original ones, there will be a number on them near where they plug into the coil. It may be facing down, but it's written right on the wire itself near where it goes into the rubber boot for the coil plug end of it.
