    Is he a horrible friend?
Hi, I have lately told my best friend that I don't want to be friends with him anymore.

The reasons for this is that: he is a gambler and he is in a huge debt and he wants me to join him when he's gambling and the first few times I did but now I felt gambling has compromised the person I am because I'm not the type of person that would do such a thing.

Also he doesn't really contact me unless its about gambling or unless he wants something from me, like help with school work. Also he tends to use a very sarcastic tone when talking with me and I don't really think he cares about anyone but himself.

I was wondering if I did the right thing by telling him I don't want to associate with him anymore? Now I'm even more lonely, since I didn't have much friends to begin with. Thanks.

I would rather have no friends then settle for a friend who is insulting and uses me.
You can always make new friends and I would never be in a friendship with someone where they did not treat me with respect.
That is not a friend.I think you made the right decision.
    Always honor yourself!

You made the right decision-he sounds like a real jerk!
Make new friends-there are plenty nice people out there.

I agree with the others , he's just using you for his needs , that's NOT a friend.

Be glad you got rid of him which gives you better opportunities to find some real friends.

He wasn't a friend to start with or he wouldn't have been using you. You did the right thing in breaking it off. Maybe he'll realize that he has some real gambling problems that need to be addressed.
