Has breast milk been used in the treatment of Hepititus?
My daughter has a full freezer of unused breast milk... and I have a close friend who has Hepititus I was wondering if it would do any good to give him breast milk to help with his Hepititus?

Breast milk will not do this gentleman with hepatitus any good at all.

    Ewwww... No, it won't help.

But, your daughter can contact your local La Leche League to see if she could donate it to hospitals.

It can stay good for quite a while in the freezer. The temperature has to be monitored very closely though. It also depends on how it's "packaged"

La Leche League takes donations for premature babies in NICU... abandoned babies, etc. It is screened for health issues just as blood is.

Ok I think I remember hearing something about this. I remember when Selma Hyiak (?) was acting as a wet nurse for babies over seas.
It's crazy how the perspectives on breast feeding have changes (so many times) over the past 30 years.
I myself am only 26 but I breast fed my daughter for 7 months, and I had a crazy aunt tell me I was slowly killing my baby with my breast milk.

Yup I remember her telling me in the hospital on my first attempt, that because of the way food is prepared and pakaged and because of microwaves (!) it has put chemicals into my breast milk which is giving my baby cancer! Also because of the toxins in the air.. blah blah blah I kind of tuned her out after she told me that my micrwave was making my breast milk cancerous.
She also said it thwarted brain development and caused ear infections. My doctor was standing idly by shaking his head.
