Hey, I've just finished year 12 in australia (a couple of days ago actually)
And I've always wondered about american high school...
I hear on TV and what not about "softmore's" and "freshmans"
What do these terms mean? And are there any more?

Well, in high school a freshman is in 9th grade. That is the first year of high school. A sophomore is in 10th grade, junior is 11th grade and senior is 12th grade, that is when you graduate and go on to college.
I think that high school are similar everywhere. American high schools are 4 years and they rank student with this.
Class Rank - Age range -
Freshmen: 1st year students... 15-16 years old
Sophomores: 2nd year students... 16-17
Juniors: 3rd year students... 17-18
Seniors: 4th year students.. . 18-19
Good luck in high school.
This is from 2006, a long dead thread. Please keep an eye on the dates.
