    J1 tax refund
Hi! I had J1 work and travel summer visa in 2009. I'm from Ukraine. I have w2 form. I made 9840 $. I want a refund of Federal income taxes which is 1087 $ and State income taxes which is 521 $. So my question is what forms do I need to fill out? I think I'll need 1040nr-ez but I'm not sure about another forms should be attached too?
    Thanks a bunch.

You are NOT exempt from state and federal income taxes.

However, if you were in the U.S. for less than one year, you can claim your travel costs and daily living expenses as ITEMIZED expenses on Form 1040NR, using Form 2106 to detail these costs.

If the costs are extensive, you MAY get a complete refund back.

You will file nonresident tax return Form 1040NR or 1040NR-EZ with form 8843. You will get personal exemption and itemized deductions. You will also get any deduction allowed by tax treaty. Your U.S. Tax Return: U.S. Tax Filing Requirements for Non-Residents
