    Hi, DEAN REEVES!

Do you mean giving up your parental rights to your child, please?

If so, why are you wanting to do that?

    Thanks!

Please pay more attention to posting guidelines. There is a Read First sticky in the Children forum (where this was moved from) that directs questions of a legal nature to this forum.

You can't give up the rights to your child. Only a court can terminate parental rights. And they will only do so under limited circumstances. There is a sticky note at the top of this forum that discusses the issue. As well as thousands of threads asking the same question.

When the other parent is married and they want to adopt, you can give up your rights, beyond that, seldom does the court allow it.

But it would have to be done though the court, and normally with the exception of adoption even if you give up your rights, you still have to pay child support
